MEXICO-US: Going online to trace the arms flow
With Mexico starting to use the 'e-Trace'
system, a clearer picture is likely to emerge of the volume of the illegal
southbound arms flow. In the US the ATF is already assigning more personnel to
this task, and is beginning to establish links with Guatemala, suspected of
having become the backdoor route as a result of tighter controls on the
US-Mexico border.
